Truly unique pen rest

This is a pen rest that one of my customers made and sent to me. It's all metal, using primarily nails, nuts and bolts. It stands about 2-1/2" tall and is about the same dimension in width.

If you click on the title, it will take you to some additional photos on the His Nibs.com website.

After looking for the pen rest that would work out on a sometimes cluttered desk that seems to have more on it to be done than there is time to do, it was time to make a rest of my own.
The torch was drug out from the corner of the tool shed where it had been stored. The empty tanks taken and filled. Before long the first slinder cowboy figure stood with arms stretched to waiting to hold my pen. Everyone needs a friend and soon there was Ol'Fido sitting in front of him wagging his tail that was made from a nail. My first pen rest was born.
Soon a second one was on the work bench and started to take shape. Just before it was finished and without thinking twice, I knew where this one was going, to Norm on the net. Just a way to say thanks for all the help that he is willing to give. The pen rest that I once called "His Nib" is now Norman's "Throne".
